In Xinhai City in 2043, neon tubes turned rusty color after being washed away by acid rain. The protagonist, Ye Weiyang, is a "scavenger" who resells electronic waste in a second-hand market. At the age of thirty, he still lives in an urban village with his mother who suffers from amnesia. Late one night, he touched a warm metal fragment in a pile of scrapped servers. The moment he touched it, a light blue data stream appeared on his retina - this was a fragment of the "Tianshu System". It was the remains of an inter-dimensional observation equipment destroyed by a scientific research institution during the "Great Paralysis" event that cut off half of the city for three days ten years ago.
The fragment gives Ye Weiyang the ability to "recall object memories": old objects that have been touched will project the key memories of the last three owners. He relied on this ability to gain a foothold in the market, but he did not realize that the fragments were quietly rewriting his synapses.
