Codename: Cold Crow

In 1941, the Shanghai concessions have become an isolated island. The Japanese intelligence agency known as the “Plum Agency” is frantically hunting down resistance fighters. Lin Yanqiu, a Communist agent codenamed “Jackdaw,” infiltrates the agency as a foreign trading company employee, waiting for a chance to obtain core intelligence about the Japanese army’s “rural pacification” campaign.

She moves between Japanese officers, Chinese collaborators, and military intelligence agents, carefully advancing on two fronts. She must fend off the relentless probing of Sato, head of the Plum Agency, outwit a military intelligence mole codenamed “Eagle,” and find ways to pass crucial information to the Party in moments of crisis. Then an accident reveals that a far greater biological weapons conspiracy lies behind the pacification campaign, and that the person she trusts most may be a “shadow” planted by the Japanese.

With her identity on the verge of exposure and her comrades falling one after another, Lin Yanqiu has three days to deliver the intelligence and identify the mole. A covert battle that will decide the lives of thousands of resistance fighters and civilians quietly begins beneath the neon-lit Shanghai night, with death at every turn.
