The Sickly Prince’s Feisty Little Consort

Xiao Yechen, the powerful and peerlessly handsome Prince Jing of the Great Xia Dynasty, has a secret known throughout the capital: he is ill, and gravely so. Not in body, but in mind. Moody, obsessive, sinister, and appallingly possessive, he leaves every woman who tries to approach him either dead or injured. To the young ladies of the capital, he is the “Jade-Faced Yama,” both beloved and feared.

Our heroine, Su Xiaoxiao, is a modern office worker and veteran web-novel editor. One day, she wakes up transmigrated into the body of Su Wanwan, the unlucky concubine-born daughter of the Minister of Works, said to be frail, taciturn, and barely noticed by anyone. And now she is about to be betrothed to the “Yama.”

As soon as the imperial edict is issued, the whole capital starts betting on how many days the Su family’s daughter will survive. Su Xiaoxiao herself is terrified out of her mind. Help! Reading about a yandere paper character forcing someone into love is thrilling, but starring in a horror movie in real life could get me killed!

On her wedding day, beneath the red veil, Su Xiaoxiao has already imagined a hundred different ways to die. But after they drink the nuptial wine, instead of the cold threat she expects, she hears an achingly gentle whisper that sends chills down her spine: “Wanwan, from today on, you belong to me. Your eyes may look only at me, and your heart may think only of me. If you dare defy me…” Xiao Yechen’s long fingers gently stroke her neck, his voice sweet yet dangerous. “…I’ll lock you in the heated pavilion, where only I can look at you.”

Su Xiaoxiao, thinking: “Holy crap! It’s forced love in real life! Who could handle that? Even if I can’t, I have to! If I want to survive, I’m going all in!”

And so begins a chaotic, heart-pounding, hilarious tale of a marriage that starts before love…
