[Two powerful leads, both transmigrated: the male lead was reborn in the womb, while the female lead’s soul entered another body; happy ending, political intrigue, revenge, a mix of sweetness and thrills, female lead disguises herself as a man]
Lu Zhaoning takes on her deceased brother’s identity and becomes the top scholar, only to step straight into an abyss of bloodshed.
Disguised as a man, she becomes the Crown Prince’s tutor, determined to clear her brother’s name. Instead, she accidentally uncovers the truth behind the massacre of the entire Lu family ten years ago, and stirs up the Eastern Palace’s greatest taboo: the old case of the Crown Prince’s mother, Lady Wei, who died a brutal death.
The court is a dangerous maze of intrigue, and her biggest obstacle turns out to be the dissolute, unruly Crown Prince, Li Xuanyao.
He spends his days provoking and tormenting her, dumping one bizarre case after another in her lap.
She curses inwardly, “The most difficult client in history!”
He smiles to himself. “I just love seeing the tutor try to hide how stubborn she is.”
Neither realizes that beneath his dissolute facade, he too is a soul from another world.
He has long since seen through her disguise, and knows that the old case she is investigating aligns with his own goals.
He offers her an alliance: “I’ll help you clear your family’s name, and you’ll help me purge the court.”
From then on, the unruly Crown Prince and the cold-faced tutor become partners in their act.
She uses modern criminal psychology to break through deadlocks, while he draws on the wisdom of two lifetimes and his power to protect her.
As they investigate cases and untangle the mysteries, the horrifying truth comes to light, and their feelings quietly blossom.
When the ultimate mastermind finally emerges, the whole game is overturned.
He tears off a corner of her official robe, then presents her with the imperial seal of the Empress. His eyes burn as he says:
“Minister Lu, no, Lu Zhaoning. One person’s justice is too small. I promise you a place in the history books, where you can clear the names of every wronged soul.”
“This lonely realm is ours to rule together. Only then can we create a prosperous world for all.”
She seeks justice, and he gives her a place in history, clearing every obstacle from her path.
He seeks the throne, and she gives him a prosperous world, becoming his one and only empress and trusted counselor.
