Frank Cairns was determined to avenge his young son who was hit and killed. He is an Irish-born British writer who served as vice-president of the Royal Society of Literature and was awarded the title of Poet Laureate in 1968. Since 1935, he has published mystery novels one after another, most of which feature Nigel Strangeway as the protagonist. His works have been translated into many languages and are popular around the world.
