Bai Qi - a famous general of the Qin State during the Warring States Period, famous for his outstanding military talents and brutal killings. He fought without defeat for 37 years and annihilated about 1.65 Million troops from the six countries, laying the foundation for the unification of Qin.
Tactical genius: The Battle of Yique (killing 240,000 people), the Battle of Yanying (defeating the capital of Chu), and the Battle of Changping (killing 400,000 people) all set records for annihilation battles, establishing his status as a "strategic strategist";
Strategic value: Capture more than 70 cities, completely weaken Han, Wei, Chu and Zhao, and open up the eastward passage for Qin;
Historical status: Together with Lian Po, Li Mu, and Wang Jian, he was known as the "Four Famous Generals of the Warring States Period" and ranked among the Ten Wulin Temple Philosophers in the Tang Dynasty.
Controversy over killings: 400,000 people were killed in Changping and more than one million prisoners were killed in other battles, which was called "human massacre";
Political Ending: Because he refused to attack Zhao and angered King Qin Zhaoxiang, he was framed and sentenced to death by Fan Jugou. On his deathbed, he admitted that he was "killed and surrendered to be punished".
Evaluation by later generations
Military level: Recognized as a master of tactics, his thoughts on annihilation war influenced later generations of military science;
Moral level: The Song Dynasty Temple removed Shizhe because of its "too murderous intent", but after the Yuan Dynasty, he gradually became a Taoist god.
