After I Transmigrate into a Book, I Use the Script to Kill My Way into Becoming Empress

After staying up all night reading the melodramatic palace-intrigue novel Jade Shattered Behind Vermilion Walls, modern office worker Lin Wei complained that the heroine, Su Ningwei, was “love-struck” and “too saintly,” and that she didn’t deserve to die. When Lin Wei opened her eyes, she had become that very heroine, newly arrived at the palace and about to be sentenced to death for “offending the Consort.” With the entire plot at her fingertips, she knows how everyone in the harem will end up: Consort Xian is a hidden villain, the seemingly gentle tutor’s son is the ultimate wolf in sheep’s clothing, and even her personal maid is a spy for the opposing faction.

Determined to rewrite her tragic fate of “being sentenced to death” and “making wedding clothes for someone else,” Lin Wei decides to defy the usual tropes. While others compete for favor, she builds a career; while others poison their rivals, she stocks up on medicine; while others court the powerful, she quietly cultivates connections. Using her foreknowledge of the plot, she avoids deadly traps, helps the emperor deal with famine, and exposes traitors. In the treacherous harem, she turns “palace intrigue” into a game of “murder mystery,” rising step by step from a low-ranking concubine to a formidable empress who rules the Six Palaces alongside the emperor, and tears the original tragic script to shreds.
