Reborn as Zhu Yunwen, I Immediately Appoint Zhu Di as Grand General to Conquer the Yuan

Reborn as Zhu Yunwen, the Jianwen Emperor of the Ming dynasty.

The moment I open my eyes, I’m faced with a world-ending level of difficulty.

First, Prince of Yan Zhu Di is entrenched in the north, preparing to march south and seize the throne.

And behind me? A bunch of clueless, hidebound officials who keep insisting on curbing the vassal princes to consolidate imperial power.

What am I supposed to do? They’re all complete oddballs.

Better to retreat in order to advance. We shouldn’t make things difficult for our own side. Whoever wants this imperial throne can have it. I’ve already decided: I’ll give up the throne for now.

But life is full of surprises. I just want to lie flat.

I sent a huge sum in military funds to my fourth uncle Zhu Di, stationed in the north, and handed him full command of the northern frontier forces. I never expected him to train himself into a god of war, and on top of that, he says he’ll uphold loyalty, filial piety, integrity, and righteousness.

I made some steamed buns and shared them with the eunuchs, and he said I was generous to others.

I secretly slipped out of the palace to see how the people were doing, and he said I cared about the common folk.

I gave his children some new clothes, and he was so moved that he burst into tears and kowtowed to me 99 times.

He thinks that as his nephew, I absolutely have to be emperor and must never abdicate.

You hopelessly good-hearted fourth uncle! You’ve ruined the whole act. The director’s going to lose his temper.

Hurry up and follow the script: march south and usurp the throne.

Actually, I just want to go work as a junk collector in some little alley. What a carefree life that would be!
