In the second year of the Ming Dynasty in the Northern Song Dynasty, Pang Zhangyou, a scholar from Jiangxi Province, and Yang Xingming, a scholar from Shaanxi Province, both passed the top three imperial examinations. They became brothers and decided to marry their children. Pang Zhangyou's official career was prosperous and he became prime minister, but Yang Xingming was sent to other prefectures and counties. A few years later, Yang Xingming gave birth to a son, Yang Zhaohui, and Pang Zhangyou gave birth to a daughter, Pang Yuxiang. The friendship between the two families continued through letters.
When Yuxiang was three years old, the two families got together at Daxiangguo Temple. Yuxiang accidentally fell and suffered a peach-shaped scar on her shoulder blade. However, the good times did not last long. Pang Zhangyou was framed by Concubine Zhang and sentenced to death. Yuxiang was sent to the Jiaofang Department, renamed Tang Xiaoyu, and adopted by Aunt Tang (actually controlled by Concubine Zhang). When Yang Xingming's son Yang Zhaohui grew up, he went to Beijing to take the exam. He met Tang Xiaoyu by chance and fell in love at first sight.
In order to get close to Xiaoyu, Yang Chaohui rented Aunt Tang's house, and the two gradually fell in love. Unexpectedly, this was a trap set by the Seventh Prince (son of Concubine Zhang), and Xiaoyu was actually a pawn. After Yang Zhaohui ran out of money, he was abandoned by the design and fell into the streets. Later, he rose to prominence because of his outstanding singing ability.
By chance, Yang Zhaohui was recognized by his father and reunited with Xiaoyu after going through many hardships. Xiaoyu's uncle Zhang Yun (Pang Zhangyou's brother-in-law) discovered her peach blossom scar and revealed the truth that she was actually Pang Yuxiang. Everyone collected evidence of the Seventh Prince's rebellion and helped clear up the injustice.
Yang Zhaohui regained his academic and high school honors, insisted on fulfilling the engagement regardless of Yuxiang's background, and was finally recognized by Yang Xingming. The two were harmonious after their marriage, Yang Chaohui had a prosperous official career, and Yuxiang was awarded the title of virtuous man. In the bustling Bianhe Royal Street, this true love story that has gone through twists and turns has become a good story that has been passed down through the ages.
