After a rain of lunar spores destroyed the old world, humanity was divided into rigid classes. The rich in the clouds swapped out their original organs, while rust ate through the throat of A Xiu, a slum boy whose secondhand mechanical lungs were falling apart.
When an armored vehicle's cannon barrel shoved its way into the repair shop, a livestream camera crew trained its lens on the oil-stained man inside.
"Want to stay alive?" Li Jin crushed the cannon barrel and welded it into a clothes rack. "Pay for my door first!"
On his bloodstained mechanical chest, the serial number E-001 hummed in sync with the Titan reactor, and the comments exploded:
[Holy crap! It's Yan Luo, the Godslayer captain who disappeared after supposedly betraying his country!]
[@Su Organ Bank Official, reserve his kidneys!]
He was once the God of War who saved humanity. Now he's a fugitive with a ten-billion bounty on his head.
But no one knows that
The betrayal at the lunar base three years ago concealed a plot by the gods to turn humanity into living spare parts;
Su Pharmaceuticals' "antidote" is turning the poor into parasitic cyborgs with metal roses blooming from their chests;
And A Xiu, the boy who always calls him Dad on livestream, carries the last spark of civilization in his throat...
When a drone's blood-red filter frames him for "child abuse," and his former comrades are remade into killing machines that dance to the Cha Cha Slide, Li Jin laughs.
His mechanical left arm tears through the advertising screen on Su's megatower. Amid a shower of iron, two blazing characters take shape: BULLSHIT.
"You say this world is sick?" He holds an unlit cigarette between his lips and welds a god's tendrils into A Xiu's spine.
"Then we'll tear down the old gods and build a new universe!"
