A sudden change occurred! Heaven issued a warning, and the spiritual mountain shook. The Tathagata declares: The immeasurable merit gathered during the journey to the west causes the cause and effect to backfire. The source is not clear, and the foundation of Buddhahood is unstable. Needing to "retrace the fate of the world and return to the source to realize emptiness", the five people need to re-walk the westward journey in reverse direction, starting from Lingshan and ending in the east, "returning" part of the merits along the way and resolving the unpurified karma and evil debts along the way. This is the "method of enlightenment against fate". If it succeeds, the Buddha's position will be permanent. If it fails, the golden body will disintegrate and fall into reincarnation again.

What is the true self? He is neither a stone, nor a monkey, nor a Buddha. It is the "spiritual original mind" that has endured countless tribulations and contemplates one's own nature. Only when you put down the golden hoop (symbolizing bondage) can you feel truly at ease; only when you take off the Buddhist robes (symbolizing name and form) can you see your true colors. "Perfection" is not in the spiritual mountain, but in knowing one's mind, seeing one's nature, and returning to one's true nature.
