Modern office drone Lin Xiaoxiao works herself to death from staying up late, then gets bound to a bizarre “Qing Dynasty Office Drone System.” Forced to begin a revolving career “on the job” as famous women from the Kangxi era and the years around it, she goes from Xiaoyu'er in the time of Hong Taiji, to Empress Xiaokangzhang during the Shunzhi era, to consorts in Kangxi's harem (Consort Yi, Consort Rong, Consort Hui, Empress Xiaoyiren, and Empress Xiaogongren), to the principal wives of various princes (the First Prince, the Crown Prince, the Fourth, Fifth, Ninth, and Tenth Princes, and the Thirteenth Prince), and even Princess Duanjing of Heshuo and the future daughter of Fuheng. She has just one mission: to do her best to survive until each identity “naturally clocks out,” while collecting “Empress Potential Points.”
Armed with her modern soul's knack for snark and the “modern placebos” occasionally dropped by the System (river snail rice noodles, hot pot base, and heat-clearing pills), Lin Xiaoxiao stages one chaotic survival story after another in the Qing palace:
· As Xiaoyu'er, she plants her hands on her hips and curses Dorgon: “I'd rather raise a dog than keep you, you scumbag!”
· As Empress Xiaokangzhang, she fiercely protects her son and beats Consort Dong'e: “You dare touch my son Xuanye? You have a death wish!”
· As the Ninth Prince's wife, the System says, “Knock out the provocative secondary consort with an abacus! Reward: river snail rice noodles!” Lin Xiaoxiao: “...Deal!”
· As the Tenth Prince's wife, the System says, “Take down your rival in Mongolian wrestling! Reward: hot pot base!” Lin Xiaoxiao: “For hot pot, charge!”
· As the Crown Princess, she looks at the dispirited Yinsi and sighs: “How about... we start a rebellion for fun? We're going to get laid off sooner or later anyway...”
