"Tea Soul Sacrifice" takes the tea town of the Republic of China as the stage and constructs a sadomasochistic legend that combines family conspiracy, raging war and three generations of reincarnation. The complexity of the relationship between characters (the twin guardians are actually sons of the previous life), the systematicity of object symbols (tea needles/copper whistles/silver hairpins form a closed loop), and the richness of the historical background (the Anti-Japanese War and the inheritance of tea culture) all provide rich space.
