Ashes: No Return to the Past

Everyone knew that Xie Yanchen was as cold as ice. He never smiled at another girl.

Yet after we married, he became infatuated with Su Wanying, the woman who had tried to drug him and climb into his bed, then killed herself when her plan failed. From then on, he ignored me and treated me coldly for decades.

What broke my heart most was that he named our daughter "Nianying." For forty years, that name was a thorn in my heart. At last, when I turned forty, I wrote him a letter of divorce and left for the Eastern Ocean.

On the way, pirates attacked, killing people and looting valuables. I was captured and taken to an island, where I became the wife shared by several men.

After I died, Xie Yanchen led his men in an assault on the island. His eyes bloodshot, he personally carried my body back to the Central Plains.

He knelt before my coffin, drew his sword, and killed himself. With his dying breath, he told our daughter to bury us together.

"Qinghuan, I wronged you in this life. I'll pay for it with my life."

"I only ask that in the next life, you let go and fulfill Ying'er's wish."

So when I was reborn and saw Su Wanying secretly slipping something into my tea before climbing aboard the flower boat where Xie Yanchen was, I said nothing.

I turned and went home, then knelt straight down on the floor.

"Father, you don't have to hand over your military tally for my sake."

"Xie Yanchen, I'm calling off this wedding."
