In 1998, the state-owned enterprise "Shuguang Medical Equipment Factory" was acquired by foreign investors. Chief engineer Lin Hai refused to hand over core technical information and was accused of leaking trade secrets and imprisoned.
In 2025, Lin Hai's daughter Lin Wei (a top overseas rehabilitation robot expert) returned to China to overturn her father's case and found that the domestic rehabilitation market was monopolized by foreign capital: an exoskeleton robot sold for 2 million, and a paralyzed old man could not afford it even if he sold his house.
