A single imperial edict accusing him of colluding with the Japanese pirates led to Liang Zhongyi, Pillar of the State, and his entire family being executed.
His eldest grandson, Liang Wen Yuan, was falsely accused and burdened with a sea of blood debts. He escaped death through a secret passage in the lotus pond, only to drown.
In a fishing village in the barren hills outside Lingxiao City, a foreign soul awakens inside Liang Wen Yuan's body.
As he slowly opens his eyes, before he can even take in this world, a nationwide manhunt is already underway, with anyone who shelters him to be punished as an accomplice.
As the searching soldiers finally draw near and the black-clad killers hunting him appear once more, the figure of an old man in armor grows ever clearer in the fragments of his hazy memories.
At court, the game grows ever more perilous, with the new emperor still a child and the old ministers dwindling in number.
Across the martial world, blood flows along the borderlands, while the threat of Japanese pirates grows ever more severe.
On the run, should he eke out a life and forget his blood feud, or gather up his shattered memories and, with nothing but his own flesh and blood, wield his sword across the land, plot for all living beings, pacify the world, and seek justice and peace from the throne in Lingxiao Palace?
