Synopsis
This is the story of Ouyang Xinhai and Lu Na joining forces to survive in the remote mountains during a time of chaos and build a home together. When they first met, one was a destitute merchant skilled in martial arts, and the other a resilient farming woman carrying wheat seeds. Their shared need to survive brought them into a "sham alliance": he hunted and guarded their home while she cleared and farmed the land. To outsiders, they played the part of a perfectly coordinated pair, though each had their own plans.
Faced with bandit raids, shortages of seeds, plague, locusts, and one crisis after another, Lu Na used modern agricultural knowledge to improve crops and make tools, even producing soap from wood ash and salt by drying seawater. Ouyang Xinhai used his martial arts to repel enemies, leading people to cultivate terraced fields and build defenses. As they went from distrust to facing danger side by side, their feelings grew while they fought off marauders, treated villagers, and established trade routes.
As more and more refugees joined them, the two led everyone in setting village rules, opening a school, and developing animal husbandry and handicrafts, transforming the barren mountains into a self-sufficient village. When the road was completed and visitors began to arrive, this "paradise in a troubled world" not only witnessed their love blossom from suspicion into devotion, but also became the epic story of ordinary people resisting chaos with wisdom and courage.
