New Voices of the Capital: A New Chapter in Yuan Dynasty Splendor

Chen Yanzhi, a graduate student in cultural heritage preservation from 2025, accidentally transmigrates to Dadu, the capital of the Yuan dynasty, in the twenty-eighth year of the Zhiyuan era, now known as Beijing. At the time, Dadu’s canal transport is thriving, but floods are frequent. Drawing on her modern knowledge of water conservancy, she presents Yelü Zhu, an official of the Waterways Commission, with a plan to improve the dike fields of Jiangnan, successfully averting a flood crisis along the shores of the lakes. In this prosperous city where many ethnic groups mingle, Chen Yanzhi not only uses her wisdom to help solve problems affecting people’s livelihoods, but gradually makes this land her home and takes an active role in building Dadu. Across seven centuries of time, she writes a unique chapter in history, illuminating the past with knowledge and passion.
