Feng Shui master Chen Mo embarks on a perilous expedition spanning the Yangtze River, Shennongjia, Dunhuang, Lop Nur, and beyond. After unexpectedly obtaining the Nine Nether Map, Chen Mo teams up with the cool and beautiful Ling Yue, Lei Zhen, who can see the supernatural, and Xiao Qi, a technology expert. Together, they are drawn into a secret involving the dragon veins and alien “ancestors.”
They unravel the mysteries of bronze tablets and face mirror-image clones, reanimated soldiers, and insectoid threats as they search for nine treasures in places such as the Qin Mausoleum, Kunlun, and Guixu. Black humor breaks up the tense moments along the way. As they follow the clues deeper, Peng Jiamu's lingering consciousness and the truth about the insect race gradually come to light. At last, the group confronts the ultimate crisis in the ancient city of Loulan. They manage to temporarily stave it off at the cost of their own lives, but the insect race may not be extinct, and a jade pendant still glimmers, leaving the danger unresolved.
