Programmer Lin Feng accidentally merges with a “Star Core.” From the information inside it, he learns that the Star Core can travel through time and space, but only with enough energy. Each journey also consumes “time particles” to enter a quantum tunnel and begin the voyage. What he doesn’t know is that the space-time fluctuations caused by every journey are being monitored.
Lin Feng’s first trip is only meant to make up for a regret, but he discovers that he cannot change the history of the main timeline. He can only create new timelines. After traveling repeatedly, he learns of the Time Administration, whose knowledge of time travel is seemingly complete and who appear to be manipulating everything from behind the scenes. Only then does Lin Feng realize he has been caught up in a conspiracy spanning time and space.
The Star Core: A natural “time anchor” that allows civilizations to open timelines without the Administration’s approval. It comes into being at the critical instant of every cosmic “expansion and cooling.”
To create a single “ultimate timeline” that it can control completely amid infinite space-times, the Time Administration has embedded every other timeline and civilization into a “temporal singularity” compressed to zero dimensions.
• The past: Only the day the Administration was founded remains;
• The future: Only the day the Administration will endure forever remains;
• The present: Every individual’s memories and free will are rewritten to make them “willingly obey the Administration.”
The Administration says, “You think we’re repairing history? No. We’re writing the final edition of the instructions. Once they’re finished, no civilization will need to read them, because there will be no new readers.”
