This book tells the story of Lin Chuan, a top memory practitioner in the cyberpunk city "City of Streaming Light", who is forced to cooperate with the intelligence dealer Nightingale to fight against the giant enterprise "Aion" that controls everything in order to save his sister Lin Xi who suffers from the mysterious "Blank Syndrome". They discovered that "blank syndrome" was a conspiracy by Mr. K, the executive of "Aion", to erase personality and create a "perfect world." In order to find the antidote, Lin Chuan must find the legendary "Origin of Yihai".
The main plot of the book revolves around Lin Chuan's pursuit: from confirming the crisis, searching for clues, to sneaking into the enemy headquarters, and finally entering the "sea of memories" composed of human collective subconscious. At the origin of Yihai, Lin Chuan had the ultimate showdown with Mr. K's will. Relying on his love for his sister and his belief in the glory of human nature, Lin Chuan defeated Mr. K's extreme rationality, successfully released the memory energy that cured all patients, and shattered the conspiracy.
At the end of the story, Lin Chuan saved his sister and the world, but his memory was damaged due to the huge mental consumption. His sister and partners helped him find himself again. The ending leaves a suspense, as "Remembering the Origin of the Sea" seems to have developed an independent consciousness, paving the way for the sequel.
