When Wang Chuan fell from the scaffolding, he thought it was the end.
But a mass of black mist caught him: a “Observer” from beyond this dimension.
“Earth is the seventh experiment.” The black mist crushed his consciousness. “The first six? Blown up, plundered, sunk.”
“You’re fish in a tank,” it sneered. “Sunlight and air are all parameters. What you call coincidences are nothing but observation logs.”
Hauling bricks, saving money, worrying about the children at the orphanage... Was Wang Chuan’s entire life just one line in an experiment log?
“Choose,” the black mist’s gray light licked at his thoughts. “Go back to the tank and be a fish, or see the truth beyond the glass.”
And the ruins of the first six are out there in the universe, watching the seventh.
