Wang Yanyan, an orphan from Qingshi Town, has a pale-gold birthmark on her fingertip that conceals a mystery: it is the key to an ancient inheritance. On a blood-red moonlit night, demon beasts surround the town. At the brink of death, she unexpectedly awakens her ancestral sword manual. Her soaring sword energy draws the attention of Meng Yanche, a gifted cultivator from the Xuan Sect. Meng Yanche, dressed in white as pure as snow, came to investigate demonic cultivators. But the girl's stubbornness moves him, and he uses a spirit stone to help her enter the world of cultivation. Newly arrived at Qingyun Sect, Wang Yanyan has no one to rely on and faces one hardship after another. The forthright Li Meng comes to her aid, and the two become close friends, while the fiery Zhang Shengnan sees her as her strongest rival. A crack to the Netherworld suddenly appears in the back mountains. As vengeful spirits run rampant, Wang Yanyan discovers that her birthmark seals chaotic power capable of destroying heaven and earth. Meng Yanche would rather betray his sect than let her come to harm. Their feelings grow amid the danger of life and death, though neither knows that their bond was foretold a thousand years ago. The forces of the demonic cultivators close in. The secrets of Zhang Shengnan's family and Li Meng's hidden identity are revealed one after another, while a mysterious figure named Cheng Sheng watches from the shadows. When the fate of all living beings collides with her own destiny, Wang Yanyan grips her sword manual and looks at Meng Yanche by her side. At last, she understands: the path of cultivation was never meant to be walked alone.
