The Book of Three Lives: Dust on the Robe

Three Lives, Three Worlds | A Fated Bond | Protecting Women | Soulmates | A Chance Encounter in the City

(The heart of this story is the protection of one soul by another across a thousand years, and the journey to redeem themselves. It features two female leads and deeply explored emotions. This is not a conventional wish-fulfillment story, so have tissues ready.)

A single lingering obsession becomes an "anchor of the soul," drawing two souls through the sea of reincarnation for a thousand years.

In her first life, she was a loyal servant in the Han palace. To protect her innocent, carefree mistress, she died under the crushing weight of political schemes, forging a vow of eternal devotion with her lowly life.

In her second life, she was a queen in the Republican era. To protect the woman she loved, who had been tossed about by fate, she wielded her power to control everything, only to build a gilded cage with her own hands and spend the rest of her life mourning what might have been amid the currents of her age.

In the third life, when Lin Yuan, an exhausted urban office worker, is awakened to her sleeping true self by two tokens of obsession, a Han-style robe and a qipao, each bearing a thousand years of sorrow and joy, the memories of all three lives crash back to her.

At last, she understands that true protection means neither sacrifice nor control.

This time, she will shatter the shackles called fate with her own hands and storm the grand prison masquerading as a "business marriage," returning the right to choose to the soul she has pursued across three lifetimes.
