Shen Yan is a legend in the entertainment industry. By the age of thirty, he has won all three major acting awards. He is poised and distinguished in front of the camera, but in private he harbors a secret: he suffers from severe “emotional allergies.” The approach of strangers makes his heart race and his hands tremble. Crowded, noisy places bring him to the brink of collapse. Only when he is alone, clutching his trophies, can he manage to catch his breath.
That is, until he meets Su Nian.
The woman runs a stray-cat rescue center downstairs from her apartment building. She wears an old sweatshirt covered in cat hair, and her voice is always as soft as when she feeds the cats. When they first meet, she offers him a cat treat. “The orange cat was just bullied. Be gentle when you pet it.”
Shen Yan’s fingertips brush against the cat’s warm fur. Hearing her calm voice, he suddenly realizes that the “allergic reactions” that made him feel like he was suffocating have disappeared.
From then on, the top-tier star’s schedule includes a regular appointment: “Donate cat food to the rescue center.”
He awkwardly crouches by the cat beds and watches Su Nian apply medicine to a limping cat. When haters gang up on him, he instinctively hides behind her and hears her tell the cats, “Ignore all that noise outside,” as if she were comforting him. When his emotions unravel late at night, he takes the long way around to watch her feed warm milk to the strays, finding that little bit of warmth more effective than any tranquilizer.
Su Nian always says, “Mr. Shen, you’re harder to soothe than the cats at the rescue center.”
Shen Yan lowers his head, the tips of his ears turning red. “Then… could I trouble you to keep soothing me for a few more years?”
This is the story of a top-tier star who treats an ordinary girl as his “personal desensitization therapy,” but by her side slowly transforms from a “glass ornament that shatters at the slightest touch” into a “giant cat” who knows how to act cute, protect his loved ones, and cuddle a cat while waiting for her to come home.
Cats bring them together, and love becomes the cure.
It's very interesting and healing, but I would like to ask if there is any connection between chapters one to seven and the following ones. It's the first story before seven, and it's the same story after seven, because I think the first two are together, and in chapter eight it talks about the male protagonist's allergens. I feel like it's not the same story. I feel a little confused
