The Phoenix Hides in the Parasol Tree

A princess sent to cement a political marriage (Mingzhu, gentle on the outside but strong-willed within) versus the enemy kingdom’s War God Prince (Helian Jue, ruthless in battle yet tender-hearted).

• Betrothed as children: During a brief period of peace between the two nations, the empress and the enemy prince’s favorite consort exchanged tokens, a pair of gold lock charms, to pledge their children in marriage. They later became sworn enemies, and the engagement was forgotten.

• Highlights: Love amid hatred between nations, a possessive pursuit that blossoms into deep affection, and a double struggle on the battlefield and within the household.

• Aesthetic: Their first meeting beneath the lonely smoke of the desert, the quiet of the prince’s parasol tree courtyard, and fleeting moments of tenderness between battles.
