Three years after the Red Mist Virus broke out, the world became a hunting ground for the Corruption Walkers, with the survivors lingering behind high walls. Former surgeon Chen Mo, who amputated his sister's arm in order to obtain a vaccine sample during the virus outbreak, causing her death, was reputed as a "cold-blooded" and made a living by dealing with "trouble" in the steel town - he did not do unprofitable things and did not save people who were holding him back. Survival was the highest criterion.
During a commission to solve the Bloody Hand Gang, Chen Mo accidentally discovered that the vaccine sample from that year was not a failed product, but was hidden in the No. 0 Laboratory deep in the Chiwu District. In order to understand the meaning of his sister's sacrifice, he took Xiaoya, a mute girl who can warn the rot walkers, and Ajin, a thief who is good at traps, into the crisis-ridden red fog area.
Traveling through the corrupt hounds in the shallow fog zone, the scavenger tribe in the middle fog zone, and the intelligent corrupt walkers in the deep fog zone, Ajin's betrayal and the conflict with the idealistic "Tinder Team" constantly challenge Chen Mo's "self-interested" logic. Finally arriving at Laboratory Zero, he revealed the cruel truth: the virus was a man-made "screening tool", the vaccine existed but had many limitations, and his sister's death was actually the result of voluntary participation in the experiment.
Faced with the temptation of high-level corrupt walkers, Chen Mo chose to leave with the vaccine samples, neither saving the world nor seeking redemption. He and Xiaoya continue to wander on the edge of the red mist, scalpels and bone blades still waving for survival - in the apocalypse, living itself is the only response to all sacrifices.
This is an apocalyptic story without the Virgin and without redemption, only the cold calculation of survival and the never-extinguished breath of the "strong" in desperate situations.
