Following the old notes of his second aunt and the gossip of old neighbors, Shen Yan uncovered the past behind the bamboo mat bit by bit: the Yin bamboo roots entangled in the well for hundreds of years, the cold water hiding the stagnant core, the guilt behind Chen Mengjiang's madness, and the pain in A Zhu's bones caused by the Yin stagnation. Carrying the green bamboo branches sent by A Zhu in his dream, he went down the well twice to explore. With the help of Granny Zhang and Uncle Wang, he finally took out the stagnant core that entangled the soul and untied the knot between the bamboo mat and A Zhu.
But the story doesn't stop at "exorcising evil spirits". A Zhu's soul has long been integrated with the bamboo strips, and Shen Yan simply stayed with her, watching her quietly set up the pen, warm the water, and fill up the twenty years of loneliness with her tiny kindness. When the demolition of the ancient town threatened the last "root" of the old house, Shen Yan reopened Chen Ji Bamboo Workshop, using old crafts as a bridge to give A Zhu's soul a place to rest - the bamboo dragonflies weaved by the children would be quietly stabilized by her, and the newly planted bamboo seedlings sprouted due to her breath.
