The adopted girl had a birthmark on her hand, so I asked my wife for a divorce
In the third year of my marriage to Su Miaomiao, I discovered that I had a medical condition that had left me infertile. I would never be able to get my wife pregnant.
Heartbroken, I agreed when Su Miaomiao suggested adopting a child from an orphanage.
Together, we chose a little girl. She was sweet and well-behaved, and I really liked her.
But on the day we were supposed to finalize the adoption, I spotted a birthmark the size of a mung bean on the girl's hand while signing the paperwork. I immediately said I didn't want to adopt her.
Su Miaomiao insisted on adopting her anyway, so I asked for a divorce!
Everyone stared at me in shock.
Su Miaomiao asked, "You're divorcing me just because she has a birthmark on her hand?"
I replied seriously, "Yes. Because of that birthmark. It's ugly."
"But it's only the size of a mung bean!"
My mother-in-law snapped, "You're the one with the problem, the one who can't have children. The whole family came with you to adopt a child, and now you don't want her anymore. It's such a tiny birthmark. We can just find a doctor to remove it later. What's the big deal?"
Su Miaomiao tried to reassure me. "That's right. We'll find her the best doctor in the country and have it removed. It's no big deal."
"She's such a cute girl, and you liked her too, didn't you? Are you really going to make such a fuss over something so trivial?"
I let out a cold laugh.
"Fine. After we divorce, you can adopt her if you want. Adopt as many as you like. I won't care."
