Background 1: During the war, the Government of Time was short on combatants, so the standards for recruiting Saniwa were lowered. This led to large numbers of disqualified Saniwa and some sword spirits falling into corruption, their nature eroded by spiritual energy. Later, when the Government of Time's forces matched those of the Time-Traveling Army, it overhauled its recruitment standards and used a regression spell to revisit the past, warning future generations.
Background 2: Thirteen people are cosplaying as Mikazuki Yuu. Among them, Tenkaichi and Onikiri have transmigrated to another world for the second time. They are the original spirits and special-branch sword spirits, respectively.
Background 3: See the classified files on the false histories of the original spirits, volumes one through five. Original characters appearing in the story include the original spirit of Kashuu Kiyomitsu from the Heian era, the original spirit of Tenkaichi, who has two spirits in one blade, Onikiri, the original spirit of Higekiri, Chogi, the original spirit of the castle-guarding blade, and Izuminokami Kanesada.
Background 4: Higekiri's companion spirit, a demon-slaying nemesis to Ibaraki Doji, unexpectedly becomes the Saniwa of a corrupted Honmaru.
Background 5: The consciousness of a world whose child was abducted to a parallel world establishes an organization, using a game as its medium, to protect its child. This is a story about a parent protecting their precious child. Special appearances by key characters include the Chogi spirit from the special branch of timeline 0013, the original spirit of Tenkaichi from timeline 001, and Onikiri from timeline 005.
