The "Land of Pure Hope" is never a pure land in the literal sense, but a closed purgatory surrounded by thick fog and rusty iron fences. No one knows where it lies, only that those who step into it will find it difficult to find their way back - the daily scenes here are full of fatal weirdness: the bloody raincoats in the old buildings will attract people's doubles, the dark shadows of the uninhabited town will reappear at dusk, the parasitic letters in the deep forest feed on guilt, and even the air is filled with lingering obsessions.
The rules here are the bottom line for survival, but they are always contradictory: "You cannot answer the door when it is dark" or "You must open the window at midnight." Those who break the rules will be assimilated by supernatural beings, or be dragged deeper into the fog. The so-called "investigators" are mostly strangers who were dragged in by inexplicable forces. With their own traumas and obsessions, they struggled in desperate situations such as the Rust Column District and the Burial Furnace. They had to fight against external supernatural hunting and internal collapse. After all, in this "life examination room", "handing in the paper in advance" meant no return.
The most terrifying thing about this land is never the concrete ghosts, but the fact that it always uses "hope" as bait: perhaps it is an escape from the gap in the fence, or it may be an evil god who can rewrite the fate, luring the investigators in the obsession of "survival", and step by step it becomes the new "rule" itself.
