At her grandmother’s funeral, a modern-day medical student thinks back on her grandmother’s extraordinarily hard life and is overcome with grief. She faints from sorrow and transmigrates to the moment her grandmother is giving birth, accidentally becoming the eldest daughter her grandmother had always mourned losing as an infant. From then on, she resolves to use her medical knowledge to cure her grandfather’s asthma and change her grandmother’s fate: losing her husband in middle age, then her children one after another, and later suffering from illness and abuse at the hands of her aunt-in-law. With the heroine’s arrival, her grandmother becomes a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, lives in a prosperous household surrounded by devoted children and grandchildren, and passes away peacefully in old age! (This story is inspired by the author’s grandmother’s life and is written to express how much the author misses her and grieves for all she endured.)
