[He pursues her + healing and redemption + growing up on campus + gentle protection]
[A silent, timid heroine scarred by trauma × a cheerful, warm, healing hero]
Lin Wei has been trapped in the shadow of her dysfunctional family since childhood. Her father died young, and her mother’s coldness and verbal abuse have left her like a frightened fawn. She is used to shutting herself away in a corner of the library, hiding all her unease in words and believing she doesn’t deserve to bask in the sunlight.
Then Jiang Yi appears, like a light that arrives uninvited. After she accidentally breaks her phone, Lin Wei becomes Jiang Yi’s little sidekick.
When Lin Wei breaks down and says, “My home is a pit of quicksand,” Jiang Yi stands firmly in front of her and says, “Even flowers can bloom in a pit of quicksand. I want to wait with you.” This is not a one-way rescue, but two souls moving toward each other. He helps her bare her wounds and teaches her to believe she can be loved; she shows him that gentleness can hide a resilient strength.
Later, Lin Wei fulfills her dream of becoming a journalist. She tells Jiang Yi, “I used to live under a rainy sky, but you brought me the sun.” And Jiang Yi comes to understand that her quietness was never weakness, but resilience gathering strength.
