It tells the story of Chen Nian, a disciple of Jinshan Temple ten years after Journey to the West, who was ordered by his master to go to Chang'an to investigate the demon atmosphere and met Zhao Xuanji, who was responsible for resolving his father's case. The two discovered that the Blood Wolf Tribe colluded with Wei Yong. After Chen Nian died, his remaining soul attached to the rosary to accompany Zhao Xuanji. Zhao Xuanji went to the East China Sea to get help from the Dragon King, and learned magical powers to create organs. Later, he met Sha Wujing, Zhu Ganglie and other colleagues who were looking for fragments of the golden hoop. After going through many obstacles, he gathered three pieces of golden hoops to fight against Wu Tian who wanted to resurrect the demonized Wukong, and finally solved the conspiracy. Zhao Xuanji refused the reward from the Heavenly Court, and took his companions to protect the Three Realms, built the Husheng Temple, and continued his ambition to protect the West.
