Spring 2107. A faint scent of gardenias mingled with the artificial sea breeze. Fengyi City was wrapped in a gentle mirage of the future. Hovering personal transports glided slowly alongside butterfly-shaped patrol robots, all moving quietly and in perfect order.
The streets stretched between translucent elevated walkways and intersecting aerial rails, layered one above another like a three-dimensional garden maze.
Spherical screens floated high above, changing their colors and patterns with the time of day and the seasons. By day, they reflected a soft blue sky; by night, they showered the city with light like a river of stars.
The buildings' exterior walls were living, breathing plant facades, where gardenias grew interwoven with modified seaweed. They purified the air and released their fragrance into the breeze. The sea wind came from distant artificial climate towers, which stood like enormous silver harps, quietly setting the city's rhythm.
Three-dimensional projection ads flickered along street corners beside the aerial light rail. Pedestrians wore light garments made from translucent fibers, their colors shifting with their heartbeats and emotions. Automated delivery pods slid past their feet, carrying steaming-hot meals or icy drinks.
Now and then, a silver-white patrol drone swept by, scattering a delicate mist of light into the air. It was “climate dust,” used to regulate humidity and temperature so that every street remained as comfortable as possible.
The city seemed quiet, yet every wisp of fragrance and every gust of wind concealed a future order running with precision down to the second.
