"Buddha Said: The Princess and I Have a Buddhist Destiny" takes Yu Wenyi and Yu Wenyue as the core characters, and unfolds the main story around their experiences in the troubled times from the Northern Zhou Dynasty to the Sui Dynasty. Yu Wenyi was originally a troubled prince who converted to Buddhism after being rescued by Buddhism. He was forced to return to secular life due to the movement to exterminate Buddhism in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, and then entered an official career; Yu Wenyue, as a princess, has a secret mission to protect Buddhist classics. The fates of the two are intertwined, from the initial secret alliance based on "preserving the fire of faith" to the ambiguous feelings that arise in the political whirlpool, and finally develop into partners who depend on each other for life and death. Their love is always closely bound to Buddhist amulets, Buddhist scriptures, and Buddhist caves. It is also closely related to the rise and fall of the Northern Zhou Dynasty and the survival of Buddhism.
