Descendants of the Song royal house, we weep blood as we beseech Heaven and Earth! On that fateful night at Yashan, fierce winds split our ships, our loyal blood flooded the sea, and a hundred thousand faithful souls sank beneath the waves with the imperial seal. The Yuan invaders' iron hooves shattered the moon over Bianliang; their executioners' blades slaughtered the springtime of Lin'an. The robes and caps of Huaxia were reduced to barbarian furs, and the people of the Nine Provinces were trapped beneath the rule of wolves and sheep!
I fled south across the seas with the remnants of my forces. For thirteen years I have slept with my weapons at hand, enduring wind and dew, drinking coconut milk in place of wine and wearing armor of banana leaves. I swear to summon the River of Heaven to wash away the barbarians' dust! Now the islands of Southeast Asia have pledged their allegiance. A thousand warships form a mighty array, and a million armored soldiers gather like fierce tigers. Our swords point to the Dipper, our bows are drawn beneath the southern sky!
The Yuan invaders usurped the realm and rule with cruelty worse than wolves and jackals: they seize the people's fields for pasture, take their sinews to make bowstrings, leave the old and weak to fill the ravines, and enslave the young and strong! The elders of the Central Plains weep blood into the night, gazing south as they bow, longing for the royal army as they would for life-giving rain!
I now honor the spirit tablet of the Great Ancestor and raise the righteous banner of restoration. March north! March north! Break through the gates of Dadu, capture the barbarian chieftain alive, burn their reeking tents, and reclaim the palaces of our Han people! Break the legs of the barbarian horses and end the scourge of their stench, so that the world may once more know rites and music, and the people may live in peace, farming and weaving!
All children of Huaxia, wherever you may be: those who wield blades, charge with me; those who hold hoes, help supply our provisions. If anyone hangs back in fear, collaborates with the enemy, or betrays the country, may Heaven and Earth destroy them, and may gods and ghosts punish them!
This is my proclamation! Let Heaven and Earth bear witness, and the sun and moon stand as proof: we shall not return until the Yuan invaders are defeated!
