In the final years of the Ninth Calamity of the Sword Era, an ancient sword formation cleaved the Jiuxiao Continent into a nine-part grid. With the Heavenly Dao incomplete, reincarnation fell into chaos, and remnant soul forces emerged through the rifts, coveting the legacy of the ancient sword cultivators. All living beings stood on the brink of destruction.
Driven by a blood feud, Xiao Yun shattered his life-bound sword soul at the Reincarnation Platform. Carrying fragmented memories of the Void Grand Sword Manual, he was reborn as a boy from the borderlands of Qingzhou. On the night he awakened, the ancient swords in the Xiao family ancestral hall suddenly resonated, and the ice phoenix mark appeared on a sword hilt. It was identical to the life-bound mark of his former cultivation partner, Xiao Yueyao. This bond spanning reincarnations became the first puzzle he had to solve to uncover the truth of his past.
He pressed onward in search of answers, only to unexpectedly awaken a Clear Sword Heart and a Chaos Sword Bone in the Ten Thousand Demon Mountains. His talent drew the covetous attention of the Heavenly Sword Sect and the wary gaze of the Remnant Heaven forces. At the Central Province sword debate, an enemy’s signature sword move reappeared. The demon race’s saintess, Bai Zhi, arrived carrying a jade flute just like one he knew. Inside the flute, wrapped in the aura of a remnant soul, lay fragments of Xiao Yueyao’s soul. The nine origins of the sword scattered across the continent were not only key to restoring the Heavenly Dao, but also held the truth behind the chaos of reincarnation.
Su Li, the saintess of alchemy, used pills to help him overcome each crisis, while Xing Xin, an astrologer, guided and protected him with the power of the stars. Xiao Yun fought his way through every obstacle and gathered eight origins. But when he faced the black mist that was the true form of Remnant Heaven, he discovered that the ninth origin coexisted with the core of the remnant soul. Restoring the Heavenly Dao required sacrificing his own sword origin. Would he give up his beloved to save all living beings, or defy the Heavenly Dao to protect one person?
The ultimate secret behind the shackles of reincarnation is now driving this reborn sword cultivator toward an inescapable abyss of fate.
