Star Falling Courtyard

The news that my father was critically ill pierced the hustle and bustle of the city, and I rushed back to my hometown courtyard all night long. When I pushed open the courtyard door, I saw jellyfish-like transparent planets floating in the sky, only a few feet away from the eaves. Three blue-white moons hung above the tops of the jujube trees, and several long, wingless aircraft parked quietly over the yard of neighbor Uncle Zhang's house. They were like giant metal rulers, motionless and suffocatingly cold. When I counted the seventh transparent planet, a dark red gap silently opened at the bottom of one of the aircraft. I fled back into the house and locked the door. I heard my father ask hoarsely in the back room: "Is the sky... Cracked?"
