Female lead: veterinarian. Male lead: pet sitter.
A slow-burn romance, focused on everyday life, with a touch of sweetness.
In Xingzhou, a coastal city in southern China, summer in Qinghuai Alley is always filled with the sweet scent of locust blossoms. In a two-story building along the street, Su Wan, a veterinarian in a white coat dusted with cat fur, bends over to examine a hamster. Her fingertips gently smoothing its soft fur are quietly captured on camera by Lu Yu, who runs the boarding house next door.
She runs Anhe Animal Clinic. Cool-headed but kind, she remembers every pet’s quirks: Auntie Li’s cat on the third floor only drinks cooled boiled water, the dog at the courier station is afraid of thunder, and even the hospitalized pets each have their own bedtime story. He runs Little Tails Pet Boarding. Sunny and thoughtful, he writes a nine-grid diary for every pet in his care. Even anxious, timid dogs are soothed by his “magic of companionship.” He always carries a three-legged stray cat named Coal Ball in his arms as his “supervisor.”
Their story begins with an emergency. Lu Yu rushes into the clinic carrying a golden retriever that swallowed a toy, flustered but quick to hand her the warm saline solution she asks for.
This is a story about Qinghuai Alley: pets are gentle matchmakers, the evening breeze carries messages of affection, and the best moments are when sunlight falls on a white coat, a boarding diary holds someone dear, and just as you bend to wipe a puppy’s paws, I happen to capture the warmth in your eyes.
After all, in Qinghuai Alley, every pet’s tail wags with happiness, and every lover’s eyes are full of lasting devotion.
