Back to the 1980s: A Couple Making a Wonderful Life

Chen Qiaoyu and Ren Ren went from university to graduation, living at an unhurried pace: he worked nine to five at a company, while she stayed home making content on her computer.

After dinner with his colleagues one day, Chen Qiaoyu and Ren Ren were strolling leisurely when a car suddenly sped into the intersection. The screech of brakes tore through the night.

When they opened their eyes again, the car was gone, his suit had become coarse work clothes, and Ren Ren’s laptop had turned into a peeling wooden chest. There was also a crying baby in the house. The alley smelled of coal stoves, and the walls bore the date 1983.

Their savings, jobs, and familiar home had all vanished. They stood in an unfamiliar eighties, holding on to the warmth of each other’s hands. Would they spend the days ahead struggling to escape a crack in time, or rebuild a home amid the bustle of life in a crowded apartment block?
