At the end of the Wei Dynasty, Lin Zhao, the son of the late imperial censor (who was cynical on the surface, but actually harbored Confucian wisdom) took the imperial examination to avenge his father (his father was unjustly killed for impeaching a powerful official), and used Confucian "benevolence, justice, etiquette, wisdom and trust" to resolve obstacles at all levels - win the palace examination, perform meritorious service in governing the people, and expose the conspiracy of the hypocritical powerful official Zhou Xian. He got to know Su Wantang, the gentle, virtuous and knowledgeable eldest princess, and together they discovered the conspiracy of the former prince Li Heng (whose philosophy is "no destruction, no establishment") behind the scenes to overthrow the Wei Dynasty. In the process, Lin Zhao experienced the repentance and sacrifice of the domestic servant Chen Fu, and the test of the inner demons of the temptation of power. In the end, he used Confucianism and Taoism to prove his truth amidst the great catastrophes (earthquakes, locust plagues, and wars), and became the "Confucian of the Great Wei Dynasty" who protected his family and country, crushed hypocrisy, and restored peace to the world.
