The dark side of modern cities is intertwined with the supernatural secrets of the Republic of China. The protagonist Shen Mo runs an antique shop "Shi Gu Zhai" that is on the verge of closing down. The store contains an ancestral "soul lock". The surface is a rusty bronze padlock, but it is actually a forbidden object that connects yin and yang. If a person's soul remains within seven days of death, it can be forcibly detained with a soul lock. However, for every soul locked, one of the user's relatives will be seriously ill or die unexpectedly. The locked soul will gradually erode the lock owner's sanity, and can only be released by fulfilling the soul's last wish.
