Set in the apocalypse after a virus outbreak, the novel tells the story of Chen Yu leading a group of survivors through a desperate struggle to stay alive.
A virus leak triggers a zombie crisis. Chen Yu meets fellow survivors Wang Qiang, Lin Xiao, and others. After breaking out of their residential complex, they take refuge in a supermarket, where they face one crisis after another. They discover weapons and virus files in the basement, and learn of a safe zone.
They cross a highway and battle mutated zombies. When Lin Xiao's child goes missing and the group is driven to the brink of despair, a convoy from the safe zone comes to their rescue. Working together from within and without, they drive back the zombies. At last, they reach the safe zone with the files and a renewed sense of hope, beginning a new chapter in their struggle to survive.
The story portrays the struggles of human nature and the power of teamwork in the apocalypse. Tense, thrilling battles intertwine with unexpected turns in desperate situations, making for a gripping read.
