This is a novella centered on the "Eight Immortals" circle of friends and spanning three years of the epidemic. Seven middle-aged men and women with different personalities, including He Xi, Yun Manchuan, Hou Zhi, Gong Xiaoli and Yu Wenwen, used tea, wine, running, mountain climbing and writing to warm each other during the lockdown, isolation, life and death, betrayal and reunion. After his mother passed away and became disillusioned with online dating, He Xi broke into no man's land alone to complete the baptism of his soul; Hou Zhi was forced into the Gobi by terminal illness and finally returned to his mother's arms; Gong Xiaoli got married at a dinner party in her hometown after eighty-seven blind dates; Yu Wenwen struggled between ethics and desire from being cheated on to becoming a third party; Yun Manchuan wrote a poem about his hopeless love for He Xi, turning watchfulness into gentle restraint. The novel uses the joys and sorrows of the human world to ask "what is love", and finally gives the answer: love is a calamity, but also a transition; it is a regret, but also a fulfillment.
