In 2242 AD, mankind entered the "Interstellar Pioneer Era", but was suppressed by the "Higher Civilization Alliance" at the edge of the galaxy. Earth's civilization was classified as a "Level 3 Protection Civilization" (essentially a captive culture). The "Abandoned Star Area" where the protagonist is located is a garbage dump where the Alliance exiles "lower civilization waste".
