The disgraced prince Xiao Che has his Supreme Bone carved out and is exiled to the Frozen Abyss. There, he awakens the Art of Qi Reading and uncovers the truth: the dynasty's dragon veins are being devoured by parasites, the skulls of evil dragons. He devours the filth of the Frozen Abyss and fragments of the dragon veins, transforming into the Chaos Dragon Emperor. He then reclaims the Supreme Bone, which has been refined by the Imperial Preceptor Xuanjizi, and uses the Nine Heavens Thunder Tribulation it draws down to temper his body. In the end, he kills Xuanjizi, purifies the Northern Mang Sacred Abyss, and ascends the throne with the Northern Mang princess Tuoba Xue, founding a new dynasty.
