An old piece of burlap soaked with blood and tears in the weaving room of the Han Palace carries the humiliation of Bo Ji falling from the favored concubine of the Wei Palace. It also carries the prophecy that she will be born the emperor and the lie of survival that "the blue dragon is in the belly". It witnessed her holding her young son Liu Heng as she crawled out of the harem where Empress Lu was bloodbathed, and escaped to the bitter cold of Dai Kingdom.
Twenty-three years of harsh weather in the north of the country, Bo Ji used this piece of cloth as needle and thread to sew simplicity and sobriety into her son's bones and blood, and even forged it into Liu Heng's backbone and armor. When the envoy from Chang'an knelt down and asked to "succeed to the throne", the voice of the Dai Kingdom was torn apart. Bo Ji held out the dust-covered blood cloth and shouted in shocking words: "Use it! I will cut a dragon robe for you Liu Heng!"
Liu Heng stepped into Chang'an wearing this "dragon robe" woven with blood and tears. When Baqiao was assassinated, Bo Ji shook off the bloody cloth like a war flag to block out the sun; when she ascended to the throne, the bloody cloth clung to her heart, like ice and brand; when the heroes forced the palace to ask for rewards, a bowl of Daidi millet porridge was her silent whip; when the Xiongnu pressed the enemy, she vomited blood and held a handkerchief to stop the war that destroyed the country.
This piece of cloth is the heavy foundation of Liu Heng's power, and it is also the sharp sword hanging from the top. Bo Ji spent a lifetime of suffering to temper her, just to remind her son on the dragon throne: Don't forget the broken fingers of the weaving room, the frozen bones of the common people, and the devastation of the world.
Finally, Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty Liu Heng, wearing a twelve-chapter Xuanmian, stepped into the court hall where the mountain shouted long live. The rough touch remaining in his heart is his eternal mark - his mother's armor and cage, an era's heavy departure on the foundation of blood and tears.
