The Feng Kingdom’s royal authority is crumbling, and seven provinces have broken away to carve out their own domains.
Feng Qinghe, a noble young woman of Yun Province, was born amid the cries of a hundred birds. Destined to be the “Heaven’s Chosen Phoenix,” she was betrayed by her own family, stripped of her destiny, and left orphaned when her father died and her mother vanished. She became nothing more than a stepping stone to the glory of her cousin, Feng Qingyu. Fortunately, her grandfather protected her. She lay low, biding her time, while secretly building a powerful army.
The ruler of neighboring Feng Province, Feng Yuxiao, was a brilliant and ambitious leader. When Yun Province offended him, he led his troops south. Desperate for a respite, her uncle used her grandfather’s keepsakes as leverage and sent Feng Qinghe, a “sacrificial pawn,” to marry Feng Yuxiao. Disgusted by political marriages, Feng Yuxiao paid no attention to the bride forced upon him.
Bearing her grandfather’s legacy and hidden resources, Feng Qinghe treads carefully in a foreign land, protecting the keepsakes left to her by her family as she plans each step.
They first meet at Canglan Pass, where her compassion and ingenuity help him bring peace to the people, and hints of her extraordinary nature begin to emerge. From covert attacks within Feng Province’s inner court to the flames of war engulfing all seven provinces, they go from suspicion and wariness to testing the waters and joining forces.
He watches her coolly, uncovering her hidden supply routes, exquisite medical skills, and deep-seated schemes. She treads cautiously, and when he campaigns against Yao Province and turmoil erupts at home, she quietly reveals her skill, stabilizes Feng Province, and builds an intelligence network. Through their probing and clashes, her sharp edge can no longer stay hidden.
When the armies of a false “Heaven’s Chosen” tear the land apart, the young warlord dons his armor and wields his blade, prevailing over the enemy from a thousand miles away. The true Phoenix heiress plans from behind the scenes and secures the home front. Together, they expose the lies, stabilize the rear, fight powerful foes, and settle old scores.
When the smoke of war clears and the feudal lords submit, Feng Yuxiao ascends the throne, and Feng Qinghe is crowned empress. Their union began as a cold transaction, was forged through trials of blood and fire, and ended in wholehearted love.
Yuxiao, we’ll claim this realm together!
Qinghe, we’ll share life and death, and rule this land side by side!
