The Story of Xia Zhenzhen's Marriage

An ordinary rural story, slow-paced and not a wish-fulfillment novel.

Xia Zhenzhen, a woman born in the 1980s, met her husband, Li Wenxuan, through a matchmaking arrangement. Knowing next to nothing about him, she somehow ended up marrying him.

Only after the wedding did she learn that her husband was not only a hopeless alcoholic, but also lazy and gluttonous. Her mother-in-law was domineering and unreasonable.

She endured one indignity after another, and finally managed to establish herself in her husband’s family, only to discover that she could not conceive. Her in-laws’ cruel taunts and the villagers’ gossip nearly drove her to take her own life.

Fortunately, after weathering countless hardships, she finally saw the clouds part and the moon shine through.
